DOK

I have assessed my students in the last few weeks based on PBL (project based learning). After we have went over information I will have the students do a project. I had the students create a tour of the space system. They had to create a pamphlet and talk about what all they would need for the trip. I think this would be level 4 thinking. Level 4: (Conduct a project that requires
specifying a problem, designing and conducting an experiment, analyzing its data, and reporting results/solutions.) I could modify this assignment by having the students use the iPad and draw their own pamphlet using the Educreations app. It is important to ask higher order thinking to the student to prepare them for the future, critical thinking skills, and solving problems.

Quad D

The majority of the lessons that Rick and I do are in Quad D. We teach PBL (project based learning) and almost all of the projects that we do pertain to real-life situations, technology, 21st century learning...etc. However, we do have to start in Quad A for the students to learn the information about the project. The bump we could do is maybe include more iPad usage. #ntti2012

App for Testing

The app that I used with my students this week is called Pic Collage. It's an app that you can add pictures and put them in different collages/colors/etc. I had the students email themselves the snap shots that they took from Gigapan and make a collage and write the words of the different volcanoes. According to Bloom's it was probably in the creating level. They were creating a collage of pictures.

Acuity that we use at school probably falls onto the Applying level. Acuity: assessment, feedback, scoring and reporting.

21st Century Skills

I had the students look at different pictures of volcanoes on Gigapan. They had to write a descriptive paper on the three different types of volcanoes. Then, they had to take a snap shot of the volcanoes and ask the photographer a question that they had based upon the photograph. The 21st century skills used were computers, Gigapan, taking snapshots of Gigapan pictures. I would like the kids to blog about the pictures that they have seen and maybe talk about different Gigpan pictures that they would like to take around the schools campus.
